In response, OPEC issued a statement accusing the IEA of painting oil producers as villains. This presents an extremely narrow framing of the challenges before us, and perhaps expediently plays down such issues as energy security, energy access and energy affordability, OPEC statement, via NBC. NBC reports that greenhouse gas emissions from the burning of fossil fuels remain the leading cause of climate change.
