Mark Harper: Lee Anderson's comments were wrong and untrue

The transport secretary, Mark Harper, has reiterated that Lee Anderson’s comment on Sadiq Khan was “wrong, and wasn’t true.” Mr Harper declined to say whether Mr Anderson’s remarks were racist despite being pressed repeatedly.

Mr Anderson lost the Conservative whip over the weekend after failing to apologise for claiming “Islamists” had “got control” of Sadiq Khan and London.
