More support for Ukraine under sustained Russian assault

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged Western leaders to help rebuild his war-torn country at the opening of the Ukraine Recovery Conference in London.

Ukraine’s allies have pledged billions of dollars in non-military aid to rebuild its infrastructure.

The Ukrainian president continued to push for Ukraine to join the European Union and NATO, with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen saying she had “no doubt” that the country will be part of the EU.

Meanwhile, on the front line in Bakhmut, Ukrainian soldiers are engaged in trench warfare, coming under sustained Russian assault.
