efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

On August 28, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan said
that the January 2024 start date proposed by federal
prosecutors failed to give Trump enough time to prepare.
The federal judge also said that the April 2026
start date suggested by Trump's legal team
goes "far beyond what is necessary." .
Chutkan added that the proposed later date also
ran the risk of witnesses becoming unavailable
or the events in question fading from their minds.
The judge chose March 4, 2024, for the start
of the trial, meaning the proceedings will take
place one day prior to Super Tuesday. .
Super Tuesday plays a critical role for
presidential candidates, as over a dozen
states hold their presidential primaries. .
