‘U.S, UK Give No F**k About Kyiv’: Furious Zelensky Regrets Ukraine’s Lack Of Nuclear Weapons
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed regret over his country’s decision to relinquish its nuclear weapons in an interview, stating that Ukraine's lack of nuclear deterrence has left it vulnerable.
Zelensky criticized the U.S., the U.K., and other security guarantors for failing to uphold their promises under the 1994 Budapest Memorandum, which assured Ukraine’s security in exchange for giving up its nuclear arsenal.
He used strong language to express his frustration, stating that the guarantors "didn’t give a f**k" about Ukraine's sovereignty or security.
Zelensky further reflected on the collapse of the Soviet Union, when Ukraine inherited a significant nuclear stockpile, only to give it up in exchange for security assurances that, according to him, were never honored.
He emphasized that if Ukraine had retained its nuclear capabilities, it would have been in a stronger position to deter Russia's aggression.
