Russia has firmly rejected a reported peace proposal from President-elect Donald Trump’s advisers that included delaying Ukraine’s NATO membership by two decades and deploying European peacekeepers to establish a demilitarized zone.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, speaking to TASS, emphasized that Moscow would not entertain such ideas, stressing the need for “reliable, legally binding agreements” addressing the conflict's root causes.

Lavrov reiterated Russia's stance on a neutral, non-aligned Ukraine, citing preconditions outlined in the 2022 Istanbul talks and acknowledging territorial realities, including the integration of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson, and Zaporozhye into Russia.

The statement underscores the widening gap between U.S. and Russian approaches to resolving the Ukraine crisis.
