Kerala's Landslide Risks: Kerala's 10 districts among top 30 most landslide-prone in India |OneIndia

Ten of the total 14 districts in Kerala are among the 30 most landslide-prone districts in the country, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) noted in its 2023 report, raising​ alarm over the increasing vulnerability of the Western Ghats.

But it ​has not slowed down the pace of development in the sensitive region, setting it up for one disaster after another, experts say.

The risk assessment led by the Hyderabad-based National Remote Sensing Centre ranked Thrissur third among the most vulnerable districts after Rudraprayag and Tehri Garhwal in Uttarakhand.
