In a significant move to bolster Ukraine's defences against relentless Russian airstrikes, NATO countries have pledged to provide five additional strategic air defence systems. This announcement, heralded as a "historic donation," was made by US President Joe Biden during the NATO summit held in Washington, DC, on Tuesday, coinciding with the 75th anniversary of the Western alliance.

A joint statement, endorsed by several NATO members and Ukraine, detailed the contributions.

The United States promised donation of a new Patriot battery and additional tactical air defence systems in the coming months.

Germany promised the Contribution of a new Patriot battery.
