Van-Tam tells Covid inquiry of 'extremely hateful messages'

Former Deputy Chief Medical Officer Sir Jonathan Van-Tam says his family "were threatened with having their throats cut" during the pandemic.

He told the Covid inquiry that the "extremely hateful messages" led to the police getting involved, making him consider stepping down from his role.

He left the post at the end of March last year.
