The Central Government has informed the Supreme Court that the CBI will conduct probe into the incident in which two Manipuri women belonging to Kuki tribe were seen paraded Naked and being molested.
It submitted to the apex court that the Centre has zero tolerance towards crimes against women and heinous offence like the Manipur one will be taken seriously and justice will be done so that it has a deterrent effect across the nation.
It has also assured that the investigation will be completed at the earliest and trial will be held in a time bound manner.
The Centre has also requested the apex court to pass directions to transfer the probe to a State other than Manipur so that the trial could take place seamlessly.
