Jenrick defends ‘decent’ migrant accommodation on barge

Robert Jenrick defended using barges and disused military sites to house illegal migrants, ensuring “decent but not luxurious forms of accommodation.” The immigration minister asserted the government’s commitment to responsible taxpayer spending, rather than footing the bill of costly hotels.

Around 500 migrants will be housed on the Bibby Stockholm barge - which was met with protests when it arrived in Portland earlier this week.
