On May 11, the Biden administration is set to lift Title 42, which has allowed authorities at the U.S.-Mexico border to rapidly expel migrants amid the COVID pandemic.

Fox News reports that in the days leading up to the end of Title 42, the U.S. Border Patrol has seen the highest daily total of migrants ever recorded.

According to Customs and Border Protection (CBP) sources, May 10 marked the third day in a row that agents apprehended over 10,000 migrants.

Fox News reports that multiple sectors are currently operating well beyond their capacity of about 19,000 migrants.

CBP is reportedly already holding approximately 26,000 migrants in federal custody.

Earlier this week, authorities approved mass street releases if CBP and its NGO partners are unable to safely hold migrants.
