Angela Rayner: PM ‘mortally wounded by vote’

Angela Rayner says Boris Johnson has been “mortally wounded” by the confidence vote in his leadership, after only 59% of Conservative MPs voted in the prime minister’s favour.

The deputy Labour leader spoke of the public anger at Covid lockdown rule-breaking at 10 Downing Street and said: “Boris Johnson laughs, smirks and takes the public for fools”.
