54 Percent of Americans Disapprove of Supreme Court, , New Poll Finds .

The poll was conducted by the Marquette Law School and published on May 25.

Its finding, that a majority of Americans disapprove of the Supreme Court, .

Comes in the wake of a leaked opinion penned by conservative Justice Samuel Alito which showed the Court's intention to overturn Roe v.

Wade.

The landmark 1973 SCOTUS ruling legalized abortion in the U.S. The poll was conducted a week after Alito's opinion was made public in March.

It seems to coincide with other polls which show a majority of Americans are opposed to overturning Roe v.

Wade.

Only 26 percent of Democrats approved of the Court when the Marquette poll was conducted.

Prior to the opinion leak, 49 percent of Democrats were shown to approve of the Court.

Republican approval of the Court increased by four percent to 68 percent.

Even before the opinion leak, public approval of the Court had been falling.
