Large Majority of Americans, Support Sanctions on Russia, New Poll Reveals.

The result of the Washington Post-ABC News poll were reported on May 2.

It found wide-spread, bipartisan support for U.S. sanctions imposed on Russia for the invasion of Ukraine.

73 percent of poll respondents think the U.S. is doing the "right amount" to bolster Ukraine or that the U.S. is doing "too little.".

Only 14 percent of respondents think the U.S. is doing "too much" to help Ukraine against the invasion of Russian forces.

13 percent stated they had "no opinion.".

In addition, 72 percent of U.S. poll respondents oppose direct U.S. military action in the war in Ukraine.

21 percent of respondents support the idea of direct U.S. military action.

A significant majority of those polled โ€” nearly 76 percent โ€” also support an increase in humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

This is a key insight for the Biden administration as it continues to petition Congress for billions of dollars in aid.
