Covid update: Mumbai's Rs 30 crore earning; India has 5,000 virus variants

From a group of scientists claiming that India has 5,000 variants of the Sars-CoV-2 coronavirus, to Maharashtra continuing to witness a surge in infections - here are the top news updates on the Covid-19 pandemic.

Mumbai Police collected over Rs 31 crore between March 2020 and February 2021 from those violating Covid regulations.

India's vaccination tally reached 1.08 crore, with over 72 lakh beneficiaries being medics.
