JandK to get statehood at appropriate time: HM Amit Shah in LS
"Statehood would be given to Jammu and Kashmir at an appropriate time," said Home Minister Amit Shah during the Lok Sabha session on February 13.
This comes after some Member of Parliament said that Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2021 won't give statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Home Minister Amit Shah said, "Many MPs said that bringing Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2021 means JandK won't get statehood.
I am piloting the Bill, I brought it.
I have clarified the intentions.
Nowhere it's written that JandK won't get statehood.
Where are you drawing conclusion from.
I have said in this House and I say it again that this Bill has got nothing to do with the statehood of Jammu and Kashmir.
Statehood would be given to Jammu and Kashmir at an appropriate time."
