Homes flooded as monsoon rains hit Delhi, India

Homes were flooded after heavy monsoon rains in Delhi, India, on August 20.

Footage shows residents trying to scoop out the flood water and wading through the deluge after their property was battered with downpours.

Ankit Jain recorded the damage to his home in the city of Gurgaon.

He said: ''There were three hours of overnight rain and my house was submerged in water.'' Outside on the roads many residents had wade through the knee-deep dirty flood water which blocked homes and traffic.

Across India, the death toll from the annual monsoons this year has risen to more than 1,300 with millions displaced from damaged homes.
