In a stunning development since the United States' chaotic (if not catastrophic) withdrawal from Afghanistan, the Taliban has announced a slew of new laws this week to govern morality, mostly of women--banning any clothing that reveals one's face, locking women in their homes without a male relative and banning them from public spaces like parks, and even making it illegal for women to utter words aloud as a woman's voice is supposed to be "private" and "intimate." Why aren't more people talking about this, and have we become numb to human suffering?
