Bangladesh Protests: Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's Statue Vandalised By Protesters as Sheikh Hasina Flees
In a dramatic escalation of unrest in Bangladesh, thousands of protesters defied a curfew and stormed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s official residence in Dhaka following reports of her resignation and departure from the country. The surge of violence and public anger marks one of the most severe crises in Bangladesh’s recent history. Storming the Palace, Jubilant crowds, who had been gathering in defiance of the curfew, broke through the gates of Sheikh Hasina’s residence early Monday morning. The scenes of protesters waving flags and celebrating in the streets starkly contrasted with the government’s attempts to control the situation. Despite barricades and barbed wire set up by soldiers and police, vast numbers of demonstrators flooded the streets, tearing down barriers and overwhelming security measures. The protesters' ire was further demonstrated by the vandalism of a statue of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of Sheikh Hasina and former President of Bangladesh. This act of desecration added to the day's chaos, reflecting the deep-seated anger towards the government. #bangladeshprotests #SheikhMujiburRahmanStatue #MujiburRahmanStatueVandalised #bangladeshnews #sheikhhasina #bangladeshnewsupdate #studentprotest #bangladeshantigovtprotests #bangladeshjobquotaprotest #bangladeshreservation #latestnews #breakingnews ~HT.178~PR.152~ED.194~GR.125~
