In Nairobi, Kenya, up to eight people have been killed as protesters have stormed the parliament. They are protesting tax hikes imposed by the government at the behest of the IMF as conditions for loans. Please see previous posts for more detail. MPs have locked themselves away from the protesters who passed a controversial bill (ready to be enacted into law) to increase taxes on the already cash-strapped citizens of Kenya.
