Aid ship for Gaza expected to depart Cyprus this weekend

A ship laden with relief supplies is preparing to depart Cyprus to aid the population of Gaza, which is on the brink of famine. The European Commission plans to establish a maritime aid corridor between Cyprus and Gaza. The vessel Open Arms, owned by a Spanish NGO, will be deployed in the mission.

First aid vessel for war-ravaged Gaza leaves Cyprus port
A Spanish charity ship carrying food aid for Palestinians leaves Larnaca port in Cyprus and heads for war-ravaged Gaza, where widespread famine is a growing threat. The vessel is towing a barge loaded with 200 tonnes of aid and is expected to arrive in Gaza by the 13th of March. It is the first ship to leave Cyprus in an attempt to open a maritime corridor to the besieged Palestinian territory.
