Tractors choke Spanish city streets as farmers protest EU policy

The Spanish government responded to the protests by distributing an additional 269 million euros in subsidies for farmers and the European Commission scrapped its plan to reduce pesticide use in the EU. The government and retail associations do not anticipate immediate food shortages.
