Happy but wary, Palestinians try to head home to Northern Gaza

Many joyful but wary Palestinians emerged from makeshift shelters at the start of the four-day Gaza ceasefire Friday to begin the long journey back to their homes. In Khan Younis, streets were packed with people on the move, heading towards the north despite warnings from Israel. Men, women, and children carried their belongings....

Palestinians in Rafah, southern Gaza, still waiting for gas
On the first day of a four day truce, Palestinians in Rafah, in the southern Gaza Strip, have been waiting since the start of the truce to refill their empty gas bottles. Gazans have struggled to survive with shortages of water and other essentials such as gas and fuel. Hamas's October 7 attack sparked an air and ground offensive by Israel, which vowed to destroy the Palestinian militants. In Gaza, nearly 15,000 people have been killed in the war, officials in the Hamas-run territory said. About 1,200 people, were killed in Israel during the October 7 attack, according to Israeli officials.
