The depleted uranium used in the rounds
is a byproduct of the uranium enrichment
process necessary for creating nuclear weapons. .
According to RAND nuclear expert and policy researcher
Edward Geist, while the rounds retain some radioactive
properties, they cannot generate a nuclear reaction.
