Severe solar storm to hit Earth; could disrupt communications, produce northern lights in US

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued a severe geomagnetic storm watch for Michigan, indicating a rare opportunity to witness the northern lights in lower parts of the state due to the impact of a major geomagnetic storm caused by a coronal mass ejection from the sun.
