Severe Cyclone Remal is set to strike the Bengal-Bangladesh coast with wind speeds of 70-80kmph, gusting up to 90kmph, leading to very heavy rainfall. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport will shut down for 21 hours, resulting in the cancellation of 394 flights affecting 63,000 passengers.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that a developing cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal, named Cyclone Remal, is expected to strike the coasts of West Bengal and Bangladesh as a severe cyclone on May 26 (Saturday). This event is set to coincide with the voting in eight seats during the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal.
