A low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm named 'Remal', with heavy rainfall warnings issued. The cyclonic storm is forecasted to reach near Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal coasts by 26th May.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that a developing cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal, named Cyclone Remal, is expected to strike the coasts of West Bengal and Bangladesh as a severe cyclone on May 26 (Saturday). This event is set to coincide with the voting in eight seats during the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal.
