Sikkim flash flood: Death toll reaches 33, over 105 still missing

The flash flood, which was triggered by a cloudburst in the early hours of Wednesday, has affected 60,870 people. So far, 2,563 people have been rescued from different areas of the state, most of which have been cut off from the rest of the country.

The death toll in the massive flash flood in Sikkim reached 56 on Saturday. According to reports, 26 bodies have been recovered from Sikkim so far. The disaster management authorities have also confirmed 26 deaths in Sikkim so far. Four bodies were recovered from the Mangan district, six from Gangtok, and 16, including seven Indian Army personnel, from the Pakyong district. Reports said that 30 bodies have been found in the basin of the Teesta River in West Bengal as well. According to the West Bengal government, they have recovered 30 bodies from three districts: Siliguri, Jalpaiguri, and Cooch Behar in the basin of the Teesta River.
