The Vatican has confirmed that the 88-year-old pontiff will greet the faithful from the window of his hospital room at Gemelli Hospital in Rome but will not deliver the traditional Sunday prayer.

His hospitalization, which began on February 14 due to a severe respiratory infection, marks the most serious health crisis of his 12-year papacy.
