New laws aimed at disrupting people smugglers

The Government has announced new laws aimed at tackling people smugglers.

Suspects could be subject to travel bans, social media blackouts and limits to accessing their finances under the measures announced by the Home Office.

Home Office minister Seema Malhotra said the new powers will be "invaluable" and enable law enforcement agencies to act "much more quickly".
