Iraqi fighters To Join Syrian & Russian Forces Against Turkey Backed Jihadists, Hezbollah Stays Out
Iraqi fighters, backed by Iran, have crossed into Syria to join forces with Syrian and Russian military units in a fight against Turkey-backed jihadist rebels.
The deployment comes after the jihadists seized Aleppo, marking a significant blow to the Syrian government's control.
These reinforcements, primarily from Iraq's Badr and Nujabaa groups, are expected to focus on defending key Shiite shrines and supporting Assad’s forces on the frontlines.
However, Lebanon's Hezbollah, a key ally of Syria and Iran, has decided to stay out of this latest conflict.
Despite Hezbollah's earlier role in supporting Syrian forces, particularly in the fight against rebels, it is not ready to commit forces in the current escalation, reportedly due to the strain from its ongoing war with Israel.
