When The Best of Both Worlds Part 1 first aired, it produced a literal showstopping cliff hanger that brought back many Star Trek fans who weren't yet warming up to the Next Generation crew.

Although I say that Season 1 wasn't as bad as you remember it, and Season 2 has some brilliant moments, Season 3 really ramped things up.

Introducing one of the creepiest villains, the crew face The Borg.

They have no particular race to call its own.

Rather, they are technological cyborgs that assimilate species and their technologies to function as a collective.
