Kia's EVO plant in Gwangmyeong significantly expands electric vehicle production

Kia Corporation recently celebrated the opening of the Kia EVO plant in Gwangmyeong, Hyundai Motor Group's (the Group) first dedicated to the manufacturing of electric vehicles.

Located at Kia Autoland in Gwangmyeong, the new South Korean factory has an annual production capacity of 150,000 units, starting with the Kia EV3 in the first half of this year.

The EV4 will follow in the first half of 2025.

Derived from the term โ€œEvolutionโ€, the EVO plant in Gwangmyeong demonstrates how Kia continues to evolve and advance its goal of becoming a leader in future mobility.

To commemorate the completion of the project, Kia welcomed around 150 guests during a ceremony at the new EVO plant in Gwangmyeong, including Jun Young Choi, Executive Vice President and Head of Kia's Domestic Production Division; Seung Won Park, mayor of Gwangmyeong City; and O Kyeong Lim and Nam Hee Kim, Members of the 22nd National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.
