Robert Jenrick accuses Starmer of 'breaking promises'

Robert Jenrick has accused Sir Keir Starmer of "breaking promises" as speculation grows that the prime minister will raise taxes in October.

Mr Starmer delivered a speech on Tuesday where he warned the autumn Budget "will be painful".

Mr Jenrick said: "He's only 53 days into this government and he's already breaking promises.

He cut the winter fuel allowance so that 10 million pensioners are going to be worse off this winter just as fuel bills look like they're going to be on the rise and he's preparing the ground to raise taxes on middle class people." Report by Kennedyl.
