The Paris Olympics saw a controversial incident in women's boxing when Italian athlete Angela Carini abandoned her bout against Algerian fighter Imane Khelif just 46 seconds into the match.

Competing in the 66-kilogram category, Carini ended the fight after a punch forced her to adjust her headgear and ultimately withdraw.
