PM announces police unit to tackle violence across UK
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer announced a new nationwide police initiative to tackle violent disorder following the Southport stabbings.
At a press conference with police chiefs, he praised officers for their bravery.
Starmer underlined the need for a mobile policing response, shared intelligence, expanded use of facial recognition technology, and preventive measures, including criminal behaviour orders, to restrict the movements of those causing unrest.
