Kerala Wayanad Landslide: Rescue Operation in Full Swing, IAF Helicopters Mobilised For Rescue Ops

In response to a devastating landslide that struck Kerala's Wayanad district early Tuesday, the Southern Command of the Indian Army has mobilised two rescue columns to support the rescue operations.

Alongside, the Indian Air Force (IAF) has deployed two helicopters from the Sulur Air Force Station in Coimbatore to assist in the effort.

The landslide has resulted in at least 50 fatalities and left hundreds trapped under debris in the areas of Meppadi, Mundakkai Town, and Chooralmala.

The rescue operation, prompted by a request from the Kerala government, faces significant challenges due to adverse weather conditions and damaged infrastructure.

Several houses, shops, and vehicles have been buried, and a key bridge leading to the affected area has been washed away, complicating the efforts to reach those in need.
