Trump Offers To Settle Russia-Ukraine War As Biden Calls Putin ‘War Criminal’ At Presidential Debate

During the first presidential debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, Trump claimed he could "settle the war" in Ukraine, initiated by Vladimir Putin, before taking office on January 20, suggesting Russia would not have attacked if the US had a "real president." Biden countered by calling Putin a "war criminal" and warning that Putin aims to control all of Ukraine and would not stop at Kyiv, highlighting the thousands killed by Russian aggression.

Both candidates emphasised their toughness on foreign policy, with Biden criticising Trump's understanding of the situation.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's military reported pushing Russian troops out of a district in Chasiv Yar, a critical area on the eastern front.
