In a significant development, senior Hamas official Mahmoud al-Mardawi has announced that the Hamas movement is ready to cooperate in implementing the recently approved United Nations Security Council (UNSC) ceasefire resolution for Gaza.

Speaking to the Palestinian Samaa News Agency, al-Mardawi expressed Hamas' willingness to work with mediators to ensure the resolution's success.

“We welcome the UNSC resolution regarding the ceasefire in Gaza and are ready to cooperate with the mediators to implement it,” he said.

He emphasised the need for a public commitment from Israel regarding the ceasefire before entering into negotiations.

Furthermore, al-Mardawi insisted that the United States must serve as the guarantor of the agreement.
