British veterans commemorate D-Day, 80 years on

World War II veterans gather in southern England ahead of the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings into northern France at the site where Allied commanders set the stage for the invasion of Nazi-occupied Europe.

The landings on the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944, were one of the main military operations that led to the end of World War II.
