Labour to boost police powers to tackle domestic abuse

Shadow Home Secretary Yvette Cooper and Shadow Attorney General Emily Thornberry want to give police emergency powers to charge domestic abuse suspects without the involvement of the Crown Prosecution Service.

The plan also gives victims of rape and sexual assault the right to specialist support throughout justice proces.
