'Scream VII' is getting back its star and creator, the latest twist in the franchise which has been hit with several setbacks and controversies.

Franchise star Neve Campbell is set to return for the upcoming film after notably sitting out 'Scream VI' over a salary dispute with producer Spyglass.

In addition to her return, franchise godfather Kevin Williamson is returning to direct the film.

Williamson is the creator of the franchise, penning the script to the original directed by Wes Craven.
