In the latest escalation within the contested waters of the South China Sea, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported an incident where a Chinese ship attempted to obstruct a resupply mission, resulting in "minor structural damage" to one of its vessels.

According to Jay Tarriela, spokesperson for the PCG, the confrontation occurred early Tuesday morning near Second Thomas Shoal, where a small contingent of sailors has resided aboard the Sierra Madre warship since its grounding nearly a quarter-century ago.
