Woman jailed for taking British girl to Kenya for mutilation

A woman has been jailed for seven years for handing over a three-year-old British girl for female genital mutilation (FGM) during a trip to Kenya.

Amina Noor, 40, from Harrow, north-west London, was found guilty last year of assisting a non-UK person to carry out the procedure overseas 18 years.

Outside the Old Bailey, Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy said, "Our mission at the Met is to prevent FGM from taking place, but we know we cannot do this through prosecution alone".
