The administration of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken action by serving a notice to Amazon for what is deemed as "deceptive trade practices." The issue arose when commonplace sweets were reportedly marketed on the e-commerce platform as sacred offerings (prasad) from the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
These sweets were allegedly presented for sale under the label 'Shri Ram Mandir Ayodhya Prasad.'
The move by the government reflects concerns over the misuse of religious sentiments for commercial gains and seeks to address the deceptive representation of ordinary products as sacred offerings associated with the revered Ram Temple.
