Italy Seeks Urgent EU Red Sea Force Amid Houthi Attacks; Reluctant To Join U.S.-Led Group | Details

Italy has called for a quick decision on an EU maritime security force for the Red Sea.

Italian foreign minister Antonio Tajani said Italy aims for a political decision by next week.

He called for a prompt decision to make the task force operational as soon as possible.

The operation aims to safeguard ships in the red sea from attacks by the Houthis.

This comes after EU member states gave initial backing to the mission to protect ships on Tuesday.
