Arctic storms claimed four lives, caused power outages for tens of thousands in the Northwest, blanketed the South with snow, and unleashed blizzard conditions in the Northeast, resulting in the unprecedented postponement of an NFL game.

A staggering 95 million people nationwide were under weather warnings or advisories on Sunday, bracing for wind chills plunging below zero Fahrenheit (minus 17 Celsius).

Forecasters anticipated the bone-chilling cold to extend as far south as northern Texas, while the frigid blast produced wind chill readings plummeting to a staggering minus 70 degrees (minus 56 Celsius) in Montana and the Dakotas.
