Junior doctors begin longest strike in NHS history

Junior doctors in England have started six-day industrial action this morning - the longest in the history of the NHS.

Members of the British Medical Association (BMA) took to picket lines outside hospitals across the UK, including St Thomas' in London.

Dr Robert Laurenson, co-chair of the BMA's junior doctors committee, said that strike action is the "only thing" the government listens to.

"The government are determined to cut our pay year on year and we've seen a 26% pay cut over the last fifteen years," he said.
