Within a week of India's vote in support of a United Nations resolution urging an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated on Tuesday that he had a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

During the discussion, Modi emphasised New Delhi's position favouring the prompt reinstatement of peace in the region.
